The home of accused high country killer Greg Lynn has been clamped by police.

The Sunday Herald Sun can reveal the former Jetstar pilot’s financial situation has worsened with police restraining his family’s $1 million Caroline Springs home.

It follows revelations in June that Mr Lynn was having trouble funding his legal defence ahead of his murder trial in February.

Property documents obtained by Sunday Herald Sun show Mr Lynn’s home which he shared his wife and children is now the subject of a legal restraining order.

What happens to it will be determined by the outcome of his trial.

If he is convicted, there is potential for it to be sold with the proceeds to be distributed among family members of Russell Hill and Carol Clay.

The state would relinquish control if he is acquitted.

It is not known whether a clamp has been put on other assets connected to Mr Lynn.

A total of $85 million in assets were restrained in the 2021-2022 financial year in work carried out by the Victoria Police criminal proceeds squad, the Office of Public Prosecutions and the Department of Justice’s Assets Confiscations Operations.

Mr Lynn faces two counts of murder over the deaths of Mr Hill, 75, and Mrs Clay, 73, who disappeared from the Wonnangatta area of Victoria’s high country in March 2020.

The pair was camping when they unexpectedly vanished.

It is alleged Mr Lynn disposed of their bodies in a remote area near Dargo.

In November 2021, he was arrested and charged over the killings and has remained in custody ever since.

His trial was initially set for October but was pushed back after his high-profile barrister Dermot Dann KC revealed Mr Lynn was facing funding issues.

“The battle to secure appropriate funding continues and the difficulties associated with that have intensified,” he told the Supreme Court in June.

Mr Lynn lived at the three-bedroom Caroline Springs home with his family including wife and Jetstar flight attendant Melanie Lynn prior to his arrest.

It is estimated to be worth up to $1.07 million.

Property documents show Ms Lynn was made the sole proprietor of the home in January 2022, a few weeks after her husband’s arrest.

The restraining order was made effective in December.
