IT’S going to be a very Merry Christmas with perfect weather for your family feast. After a blistering 36C last year, this forecast won’t ruin anyone’s festive plans.

SANTA won’t be wiping his brow in a blistering heatwave this year.

He’s been gifted a perfect Victorian summer’s Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to ensure he has a smooth ride to deliver all his presents.

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Stephen King delivered the festive forecast this afternoon saying it was “looking pretty good for Christmas”.

“Christmas Eve, we’ve got 21C on the way after a morning shower, so the conditions should be pretty good for the carols in the evening,” Mr King said.

“By Christmas Day, we are expecting a minimum of 13C, so a cool start, and then getting up to a top of 24C. Only partly cloudy skies expected, so perfect weather.”

Mr King said it was quite a welcome change from last year’s scorcher at 36C.

“It was a hot one last year. Much more comfortable this year,” he said.

“A much better opportunity to crack out the barbecue, seafood or whatever else might take your fancy.”

It comes after veteran long-range forecaster Dennis Luke called the weather earlier this month, saying Christmas Day would be a mild 18 to 25C.
