Melbourne’s casanova conman has married his fourth wife and fought off a restraining order as his US visa has come under the radar.

Paul Carter — a tradie dad accused of swindling millions of dollars from two ex-wives, an ex-fiancee, family, businesses and investors — has tied the knot again in the US.

It’s the latest twist in his supremely complicated life and comes as the Herald Sun reveals his visa has drawn the attention of Australian and US immigration authorities.

Carter, 52, married his fourth wife, Kelly Sayers, in upstate New York last month.

He denied his nuptials were a ploy to avoid coming back to Melbourne, where he is being investigated over untested allegations of rape and making threats to kill.

“I am sick of this bulls--t. I just want to get on with my life,” Carter said.

On Thursday Carter fought off a second restraining order application made by his fearful third ex-wife, Brooklin Carter, on behalf of herself and their son.

Brooklin, the daughter of a multi-millionaire Melbourne property mogul, told Albany County Family Court she was afraid her ex-husband was “on the edge” and could “flip”.

Her son, 14, was so scared of him he slept with weapons at his bedside, she told the court.

“I am scared of him. My son is scared of him. I have photos here showing that my son has a knife and a baseball bat by his bedside because he is terrified of his father,” Brooklin said.

Judge Richard Rivera denied her application because there had been no threat of violence.

“Unfortunately, I can’t issue an order of protection on what might happen in the future. This is a custody issue,” he said.

It was a win for Carter, who stared down cameras outside court.

He told the judge he was not a violent man and suggestions he would hurt Brooklin or their son were “absolutely absurd”.

Last year the same court granted Brooklin a one-year restraining order after she told police her ex-husband went on a violent rampage in her home, and sent her a text threatening to kill himself and “ensure you go down with me”.

Police will arrest Carter over the rape and kill threat claims if he ever returns to Australia.

The claims were made by his former fiancee, Katherine De Bois (not her real surname).

A Herald Sun special investigation last month revealed he lured in women using fake online dating profiles and claimed to own multimillion dollar properties and cars, including Maseratis.

It can now be revealed Australian and US immigration authorities have shared intelligence involving potential breaches against his visa.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement department would not be drawn on whether an investigation had been commenced.

“As a matter of policy, we can neither confirm nor deny the existence of an investigation,” a spokesperson said.

Visa breaches are taken very seriously in the US, and can result in deportation.

Carter defended his fourth marriage as legitimate.

“We have millions of friends who can vouch that we are a couple,” he said.

When asked about claims he and Ms Sayers had plans to change their surname to Hamilton and move to California and go off the grid, Carter said: “Not yet. Although we may have to in order to put this behind us.”

He vehmently denied all allegations against him.

“I am not a bad guy. I haven’t even had a speeding ticket in five years.”

A former school friend of Carter has revealed insights into the early life of the conman.

As a young boy at Corpus Christi Primary School in Glenroy, Carter was a budding narcissist who needed to be admired, he said.

“He seemed to need to be popular,” said the school mate.

“He started hanging out with the nerdier guys because they seemed to look up to him.

“He liked being the centre of attention and I remember him having the nerdier kids hanging off him and he lapped up the attention.

“He wasn’t going to get the same attention from the cooler kids.”

The ex-classmate said Carter was a “smooth talker” who had a knack for embellishing stories.

“He was a smooth talker back then but harmless enough at the time. I just felt he was a bit shifty and from memory he could exaggerate,” he said.

Carter is accused of cheating ex-wife Brooklin and her father, the founder of Parklea developments, of more than $2 million dollars during their marriage.

His first wife, Elise Ryan, claimed he owed her $150,000 in unpaid child support after deserting her and their three young kids.

Jilted ex-fiancee Katherine claimed he hastily proposed to her in 2014 while still married to Brooklin, whom he claimed had died of bone cancer.

During their whirlwind romance he took legal power of her Clifton Hill salon which was due to be paid out by the state government to make way for the East West Link.

Carter is also accused of cheating his elderly mother and step-father out of their homes.

United Housing Victoria, a major housing charity, was also pushed to the brink of closure while Carter was CEO in 2010-2012.

Several other businesses, property developers and homeowners claim they were also jibbed.
