A Victorian MP is under fire after calling another member a “pig” during a passionate debate in the state parliament.
Several politicians witnessed Liberal MP Inga Peulich insult Greens leader Samantha Ratnam, who was making a speech in the chamber on the lack of women in the Coalition ranks.

The move has shocked MPs despite Ms Peulich begrudgingly withdrawing her comments.
“I was incensed at this blatant of display of hypocrisy by Ms Ratnam and the Greens but did withdraw an intemperate remark I made and hope Ms Ratnam will also apologise for her offensive and misogynist comments,” Ms Peulich said.
“Ms Ratnam used her members’ statement in parliament not to attack the Andrews Government’s poor record but instead attacked Senator Jane Hume for comments she made on Q & A on the topic of women in politics.
“Ms Ratnam who professes to be an advocate for more women in politics used this as a cheap opportunity to launch a nasty and personal attack on Senator Jane Hume and all female Liberal MPs.”
Ms Ratnam hit out at the insult.
“The behaviour of the Liberals today demonstrated that they just don’t get it,” she said.
“The Greens and I will do everything that we can to create a more inclusive culture in parliament.
“We will continue to try to lift the standards of the Parliament and increase the diversity of elected MPs.”
It is not the first time Ms Peulich has attracted criticism for her comments inside and outside of the chamber.
Minister for Small Business Philip Dalidakis claimed the outspoken Liberal MP had referred to people as Nazis, including himself.
Mr Dalidakis is Jewish and has lost family in the Holocaust.
