Last of major Victorian bushfires under control
After a horror bushfire season, the last significant Victorian blaze has been contained in East Gippsland, bringing to a close three months of devastation.

Victoria no longer has any bushfires burning out of control.
Emergency Management Victoria on Thursday announced there were no longer any significant fires burning anywhere across the state.
The containment of the Snowy complex fire in East Gippsland marked an end to three months of devastation which killed five people and destroyed more than 1.5 million hectares.
Emergency Management Victoria said on Thursday: “After burning over 1.5 million hectares in Victoria this summer, there are no significant going fires across Victoria”.

Emergency Services Minister Lisa Neville tweeted that it was a significant moment and she was proud of all agencies for their commitment.
Premier Daniel Andrews wrote: “Homes were destroyed. Lives were lost. But throughout it all our first responders worked tirelessly to keep us safe. And for that, we say thank you”.
