Kmart has quietly opened three new ‘hub’ concept stores this week in regional Victoria, replacing former Target Country stores.
The new K Hub stores in Cobram, Echuca and Seymour offer a smaller, curated collection of kids, home and clothing collections.
“Our K hub stores may look a little different to what you’d expect from a normal Kmart store. They have our most popular Kmart products across kids, home and clothing, but they’ve been brought to life in a new way - a collection inspired for a smaller neighbourhood store, with bigger convenience in mind,” the brand revealed on LinkedIn.
The new stores are also offering a click and collect service for the broader range of products from both Kmart, Target and online shopping site Catch.
“Our K hub customers will have the ability to shop Kmart and Target’s full product range online, then visit us in-store to collect their items. We’ll also be extending this service to include our friends at Catch – so think of our K hub stores as a one-stop-shop for all of your favourite Kmart, Target and Catch products.”
Previous Target Country store employees have been redeployed to the new store format.
“It wouldn’t be a great store opening without a superstar team and for these stores, our customers were welcomed in by some familiar faces. All of the previous Target store team members were offered the opportunity to join our growing Kmart family.”
The move follows the announcement in May by Wesfarmers, owners of Kmart and Target, that up to 167 Target stores across Australia would shut or be converted to Kmart stores.
