Kmart will convert three of its stores to dispatch centres as demand grows from online customers.
A Kmart spokesman said over the past few weeks they have seen a huge surge in demand for online services and the decision is designed to continue to support customers with shopping in a way that’s most convenient for them.
“That’s why we’re doing things a little bit differently at Kmart. Recently we made the decision to temporarily convert three of our 240 stores into order fulfilment sites to help support the growing demand for our online home delivery services,” the spokesman says.
The Kmart Brandon Park in Victoria, Kmart Top Ryde in New South Wales and Kmart Caboolture in Queensland will all be converted.
“Our store teams continue to work instore, as part of the fulfilment team; ensuring that our Kmart customers and communities have easy access to the products they need, at the time they need them most.”
The budget homewares and fashion retailer will continue to offer free delivery on all online orders over $45. All remaining 237 stores remain open and trading.
