Two young girls have been “robbed” of a life with their devoted mum after she tragically died at a home in Shepparton.

Kiara Ferguson was found with serious injuries at a McCubbin Drive property about 6.10pm on Saturday.

The 27-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 28-year-old Shepparton man assisted police with their inquiries but was later released.

Julie Ferguson told the Herald Sun her sister “did everything” to provide for her four-year-old and seven-year-old daughters.

“Kiara loved her little girls and did everything she could to give them a life filled with love, family and fun,” she said.

“She was a hard worker, working shift work to provide for them.”

Ms Ferguson said Kiara’s daughters have been “robbed” of a life with their mum.

“Kiara loved to watch her daughters participate in sport and activities.

“Her oldest daughter played basketball and she had just signed her up for her very first season of netball.

“She was most happy when she was able to spend time with her girls.

“Her daughters have been robbed of having her present in the most special moments of their lives that are yet to happen – holidays, graduations, weddings, babies.”

Ms Ferguson said Kiara was a proud Yorta Yorta Wiradjuri woman and held strong family and cultural connections.

“Kiara was a loving, trusting and sociable person,” she said.

“Her happy-go-lucky presence was infectious and you could hear her before you could see her.

“She invested in her relationships and friendships.

“She was so young and I’m devastated that there won’t be chances to make more memories with her.”

Jemma Matulin said her friend had the “biggest heart”.

“How lucky I was to have someone I could always be myself around,” she said.

“With the biggest heart and a contagious smile, she was always there for me as she was for so many.”

Victoria Police said homicide squad detectives were continuing to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding Kiara’s death.
