OUTDOOR
Take advantage of Melbourne’s fine winter days and head outside to explore activities in the outdoors.
Winter season
Embrace the cold by heading to one of Victoria’s ski resorts, which are having a bumper snow season.
Ride the new $6 million chairlift at Mt Buller, which can whisk the whole family up Bourke Street in just over two minutes.
Check the kids into the Buller Kids Centre for ski or snowboarding classes, or creche services.
Entry fee is $58 per vehicle.

Melbourne’s only ice slide is coming to The District Docklands.
Slap on your googles or get ready to pose in style as you will be able to capture the ultimate Instagram post with new photo technology as you slide down.

It’s time to test out your climbing and zip-lining skills at Trees Adventure at Glen Harrow Park. Located in the Dandenong Ranges, it’s the perfect activity to keep the kids entertained for a couple of hours.
Prices range from $25-$55 per child. Bookings are essential.

Get up close and personal with roving dinosaurs as they come to life at Melbourne Zoo.
If you’re lucky, you might even get to see a dino keeper waking a dinosaur from their slumber.

Wild Nights at Werribee Open Range Zoo
July 6-13
Experience Werribee Open Range Zoo after dark with life-size dinosaurs that will have everyone entertained for hours.
As well as the Jurassic creatures, there will be a list of other activities to enjoy including fire shows, late night animal spotting, a lantern parade, a secret garden, the Glow Zone, a hot chocolate bar and campfires.
Tickets from $5 for child members.
All year round
Head to the Yarra Valley this winter and explore everything Rayner’s Orchard has to offer.
This includes the Fruit Taste Adventure Tours that allows you to explore the orchards on the back of a tractor, trying different seasonal fruits like mandarins, kiwi fruits, lemonades tamarillos, and cumquats.

When the weather takes a turn, head indoors to cheer up your winter blues.
Spy in the Sky at Melbourne Star
June 29-July 14
Aspiring detectives can test their observational skills in the Melbourne Star’s Spy in the Sky challenge these school holidays.
Grab a pair of binoculars and listen to clues to help you spot landmarks across the city as the cabin rotates.
One free child’s ticket with every full price ticket.
MegaBeasts at Healesville Sanctuary
Until July 14
Visit the Yarra Valley to catch Healesville Sanctuary’s animatronic exhibition of megafauna that roamed the earth millions of years ago.
Discover extinct animals or become a mega keeper for the day to help the sanctuary team fight the extinction of 21 modern-day threatened species.

If your little one loved Avengers Endgame, why not take them back in time to where it all begun.
Head to the Shot Tower Museum at Melbourne Central to learn more about comic book art.
The exhibition includes work from every decade of the company, from its start as Timely Comics in 1939 to the buff superheroes we love from modern movies.

Mystical Creatures Art-Making at NGV
July 1-4
Visit the Great Hall and create your own dragon or mystical creature, inspired by the NGV’s children publication Discover the Terracotta Warriors.
While you’re there, check out the winter blockbuster exhibition, Terracotta Warriors and Cai Guo-Qiang.

Brickman Cities by LEGO City
June 15-August 4
Get your kids down to Sciencework’s Melbourne to see five of the world’s most iconic cities all built from Lego.
They have been exclusively curated and built by Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught and his expert team.
More than 2,500 hours and 1 million LEGO bricks were needed to build the different cities.
