‘He has a knife’: Violent stabbing attempt at Traralgon school

Shocking video shows a brawl erupt between three students at Traralgon Secondary College, during which one boy runs towards a fellow student with a knife.

Footage has emerged of a violent stabbing attempt at a high school in Victoria’s east.

In shocking video obtained by the Herald Sun, a brawl erupted between three male students at Traralgon Secondary College on Thursday, during which an older-looking boy ran towards a fellow student with a knife in his hand.

They can be heard yelling and swearing at one another during the attack, calling each other “c----”.

“He has a knife on him,” one of the students can be heard saying.

The third student is then seen swinging a punch at one of the boys, before the student holding the knife puts a boy in a headlock, causing the knife to fall to the ground.

A teacher was forced to step between the trio as the older boy swung the knife at the other student.

The male teacher can be heard yelling at the students to “stop” as they repeatedly hit and kick one another against a fence at the school’s driveway.

The disturbing video was shared on social media by students at the school, including on Snapchat which has a geotag function that confirmed the fight took place on school grounds.

A teacher was forced to step between the trio as the older boy swung the knife at the other student.

The brawl erupted between three male students at Traralgon Secondary College on Thursday.

The Herald Sun was told that violent incidents at the college were a rare occurrence and that disciplinary action over the filmed attack was being determined.

But one student at the secondary college, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the school has “always had a knife problem” that has grown worse over time.

“People would try to rob others with knives and box cutters and recently it’s gotten worse,” he said.

“It’s messed up. Traralgon College has always had a knife problem.”

A Department of Education spokeswoman said none of the students were injured during the brawl, which was now being investigated.

“Traralgon College is working with the Department to fully investigate this matter and take appropriate disciplinary action,” she said.

The fight follows a similar violent attack that broke out at Dandenong High School in March, when video showed two girls slapping and hitting one another as one student’s hijab was ripped off her head.

In February, a string of videos that were posted to a private Instagram account captured multiple students attacking each other at Gleneagles Secondary College.
