Student’s hijab ripped from head in school brawl

Disturbing video footage has emerged of two students fighting at a public school in Melbourne’s south east.

The footage shows two girls slapping and hitting one another as one student’s hijab is ripped from her head at Dandenong High School.

A crowd is seen gathered around the girls with other students filming the incident while encouraging the vicious behaviour.

A source close to the school told Leader that bullying was rife and fights occurred almost everyday at the school.

It’s believed racism is also an issue after derogatory slurs including “co**on picker” and “n***** defence league” were graffitied on classroom walls and tables.

Other racist remarks like “I hate n*****s”, “f*** n*****s” and “n*****s don’t belong” were also found sprawled on school property.

A Department of Education and Training spokesperson said any form of violence or bullying was “completely unacceptable”.

“Dandenong High School investigates all claims and takes strong action, including disciplinary action where appropriate, in response to any incidents of fighting, bullying or racism,” the spokeperson said.

“This includes taking appropriate action against improper use of mobile phones, which goes against school and department policies.”

Leader understands the fight took place last year and appropriate disciplinary action was taken against all students involved.

It’s believed once the graffiti was found, it was removed.

This comes after video footage captured multiple fights at Gleneagles Secondary College in Endeavour Hills.

Six videos were posted to a private Instagram account last month where students were seen attacking each other in school uniform.

One video showed two females hitting and kicking one another with a male student breaking up the fight.

The other video showed two males punching one another as one teen fell to the ground.
