No kidding, but a goat has gone on the loose in Footscray’s concrete jungle, perhaps looking to snag a ba-ba-bargain in the Boxing Day sales.

It comes just a day after a kangaroo was caught on film bouncing down a shopping strip in the same suburb.

Police received multiple calls today about a rogue goat traipsing through Melbourne’s inner-west, with sightings of the animal in Roberts Street and Cemetery Road.

The shy goat was also found in a driveway at Yarraville resident’s home, and ran away when approached despite the offer of what was probably Christmas leftovers.

Police butted in, and eventually caught up with the goat who was kicking about on Somerville Road.

The goat surrendered into police custody without incident, and a search is under way for its owner.

The goat went bleating back to the local lock-up.

“If you recognise him/her, give us a bleat at Footscray Police Station (03) 8398 9800,” Victoria Police tweeted.

Victoria Police yesterday also posted a video of the rogue kangaroo bouncing its way into Christmas.

“Santa wasn’t the only visitor to Footscray early this morning - it appears this sneaky marsupial decided to a do a bit of last minute Christmas shopping,” the post read.

The post attracted more than 400 likes, and more than 100 comments.

“Poor little guy was confused, he thought it was “Hoppers Crossing” not Footscray,” one wrote.

Another wrote: “Proof that the urban sprawl is getting too big. It appears that this little bloke was doing his last minute Christmas Hopping.”

It appears wandering goats in Footscray might be a common occurance, with a Facebook group Goat Watch Footscray dedicated to sightings.

Another goat was ‘arrested’ in 2015, when police found Sunny the wayward goat wandering around Albion, also in Melbourne’s west.

The force announced the unusual find on its Facebook site.

“Sunny the goat was a bit of a baaad boy in Albion today,’’ the post said.

“We think it was a bit fresh for an early morning stroll, but whatever floats your goat.”

The post attracted more than 1700 likes in just half an hour, some people offering to adopt the inquisitive animal.

“OMG, I was trying to chase this goat on Thursday. I saw it at Albion on the way home,’’ one user posted.

Another said: “Dam kids getting lost thank god for the law!”

Sunny was delivered to Brimbank Council rangers, without charge.
