Crypto king Ed Craven plans to build a basement gym almost as big as the average Australian family home in the mega mansion he is constructing in Toorak.
New plans for Craven’s massive St George’s Rd property — expected to be Australia’s most expensive home when finished — reveal the lavish lifestyle the billionaire will lead in his basement alone.
The average family home in Australia is 240 sqm.
Craven’s subterranean cardio room will be 220 sqm.
That does not include the separate “strength”, “stretch and free weights’’ spaces to be built on the same floor of a 3537 sqm double storey brick and concrete basement building.
An upper level gym, staff bedrooms, dog wash rooms and basketball court also form part of the plans drawn up on behalf of the cryptocurrency casino founder of stake.com.
It will have room to park two guest cars, three spaces for “services parking”, snack rooms, and “a potential tennis court – subject to tree removal’’.
Craven, 28, is one of Australia’s richest people and the nation’s youngest billionaire thanks to Stake.com being the largest offshore crypto casino in the world despite being banned from operating in Australia.
He paid a record $80m in 2022 for an unfinished “ghost mansion” on the uber exclusive Toorak site of his passion project which had stood idle for more than 30 years.
It smashed Victoria’s previous record house price of $52.5m.
But he took the wrecking ball to the 7187 sqm property late last year, amid moves to replace the previous red brick mansion with his own dream home.
The new mansion, designed by respected Melbourne architect Paul Conrad, is expected to be worth $150m when complete.
It will boast 8000 sqm of internal space and is expected to take three years to build.
Craven, who founded his online casino company in 2017 alongside business partner Bijan Tehrani, is no stranger to Toorak property.
In 2022 he paid $38m for a two-level Orrong Rd home with a pool, reflective pond and light installation.
Melbourne based Craven and Tehrani have used their fortunes to splash Stake’s name on Formula One, English Premier League and UFC sponsorships.
Craven has an estimated net worth of $3.86bn.
