JOBE Watson has teamed up with the Shaun Miller Foundation to raise awareness and money in the fight against congenital heart disease.
The former Essendon player first met CHD patient and Bombers super fan Shaun just two weeks before he tragically died of the condition in 2012 aged 17.
Mr Watson has volunteered his time for a fundraising dinner this month, hoping to raise awareness of the condition that claimed Shaun and is affecting other kids like Hannah, 8.
“Shaun was a really unique kid and I think he’s touched a lot of people though how brave he was through his own illness and the attitude he had the whole time,” he said.
“He will continue to inspire and show everyone how to hope even after his death.”
Shaun’s father Cameron Miller, 47, has poured his energy into the foundation since his son’s untimely death.
“It’s given me hope in my life,” he said.
“I was very lost in the grief.
“If I can bring awareness worldwide I’d be a very happy person.”
Tickets are now on sale for the foundation’s Heart 2 Heart at the Essendon AFL Windy Hill on June 24.
Jobe will be speaking at the night of entertainment, alongside others touched by CHD.
The Shaun Miller Foundation for Childhood Congenital Heart Disease is partnered with the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
