Inspirational teen Shaun Miller’s legacy remembered with movie and foundation

IT has been five years since Shaun Miller died, but the inspirational Melbourne teen is far from forgotten, with a movie and foundation to honour his memory.

A MOVIE and foundation will honour the legacy of inspirational Melbourne teen Shaun Miller, who passed away in 2012.

Miller was 17 and suffered from congenital heart disease, but became a YouTube sensation when he posted an emotional goodbye video which was watched by millions.

Dad Cameron said he was proud of his son’s legacy.

Shaun Wilson-Miller, pictured with dad Cameron Miller, died five years ago and went viral after touching the hearts of millions.

“I’m absolutely blown away by the film and having The Shaun Miller Foundation,’’ he said.

“He was an amazing boy and was always helping other people.

“The foundation is here to help the children and look for a cure for CHD with the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.

“Shaun was one of eight children born a day with CHD and sadly four children lose their battle every week. He’s touched people the world over.”

Two of the foundation’s ambassadors, Kevin Sheedy and Yvonne Nicholas, met with Miller and the film’s director Kelly Dolen.

The film is called Awesome Ride and will be produced by father-and-daughter team James M Vernon and Kristy L Vernon. Rising actor Gulliver McGrathplays Shaun, and Shane Jacobson plays Cameron.

Shaun’s favourite movie was Jacobson’s hit Kenny.

“It’ll be a film that resonates around the world. It is very sincere and very real,’’ Dolen said.

“It’s like Australia’s Forrest Gump — a beautiful, whimsical story.

“He had his first love, his first kiss and then had to face his worst possible fear.”
