Legends of the game will come together to celebrate the contribution of one of the greatest of them all.
Former Melbourne player John Townsend will tonight be among those gathered to pay tribute to Ron Barassi at Parliament House.
Now in it’s fifth year, the Queens Hall event will mark the highs and lows of one of footy’s greatest players and coaches.
“I played with Barass’ until he went to Carlton,” Townsend said.
“We both played the 64 final together. He was the biggest name in town back then in those days and probably still is.”

Hosted by Melbourne’s Past and Present Players and Officials Association, all proceeds from the Ronald Dale Barassi AM Annual Address will go towards Life in the Fifth Quarter, a funding pool established to help expand and develop the care, welfare and support of those who have represented the club.
