A wild brawl after Richmond and Essendon’s Dreamtime at the ‘G blockbuster on Saturday night has led to a police investigation.

A group of men wearing Richmond Football Club jumpers were involved in an altercation at a car park on Olympic Boulevard at about 10.45pm, officers were told.

The incident escalated as one of the men punched at least one other man, investigators say.

The fight took place about 40 minutes after the final siren when Richmond defeated the Bombers by 23 points.

Investigators believe there were a number of people in the area who would have witnessed the altercation or have footage of it.

It is yet another incident in a shocking year for crowd behaviour in the AFL.

The season-opener between Richmond and Carlton in March led to three men being charged with affray following a wild post-siren brawl in the MCG stands.
