Flashy real estate agent Zed Nasheet claims Melbourne sales record

He’s a Lamborghini-driving self-made millionaire and claims to have set a new record for Melbourne real estate sales. And he did it all after flunking out of Dandenong High.

He’s just 29, was born poor and failed his VCE at Dandenong High, but brash Melbourne real estate agent Zed Nasheet has let nothing stop him becoming a multi-millionaire.

Known for his ostentatious ad campaigns – the latest features him rapping about real estate while sipping champagne in a private jet – “the refugee boy” says he now owns a Lamborghini, a Bentley and recently bought a $6 million property.

The owner of Zed Real Estate, which he runs with his brothers, is a long way from the tiny, two-bedroom apartment he shared with his family of six and another family of eight in war-torn Afghanistan and, later, the prejudice he experienced in Pakistan, after his family fled the Taliban.

“I have nothing good to say about my childhood but I am who I am because of where I’ve come from. A lot of people take Australia for granted but I’m the proudest Aussie. There’s no better country in the world to live, and that’s where my hunger comes from,” Mr Nasheet said.

The lack of liberty his family endured before migrating to Australia has emboldened him to make the most of Australian freedoms, the country’s spirit of entrepreneurship and to take chances, he said.

And he’s not worried if people laugh at his over-the-top videos and larger-than-life approach to selling property. The proof of his success is in the “ZOLD” (yes, Zold) stickers across Melbourne and its suburbs, he says.

“I’ve sold 222 properties in the last 14 months which no one has done before in the history of Melbourne,” Mr Nasheet boasted.

He also claimed to be the fastest-selling agent in the world, and loved by the “poshy” Brighton and Toorak sets for his unashamed, “cheesy” approach to selling himself, and real estate.

“They love it! They love it so much,” Mr Nasheet said.

While his website shows a handful of properties for sale in these well-heeled suburbs, it mostly spruiks homes — albeit many high-end — in the city’s middle-class south east.

Mr Nasheet said he applied for the Guinness Book of Records a while back after selling a million dollar property in 15 minutes, but never followed up on his application.

“I don’t need a book to tell me I’m the fastest salesman, I’m just claiming it,” he said with all the confidence of a man who didn’t let a 28 ATAR score stop him becoming a successful businessman.

After flogging hotdogs outside Melbourne nightclubs and selling mobile phones at Fountain Gate shopping centre, he studied for two years to become a real estate agent and auctioneer.

For three years after qualifying, he didn’t make a cent.

Now, he says he’s selling properties worth millions and making a motza with his bold approach.

Mr Nasheet told the Sunday Herald Sun he was also set to join the cast of a new reality TV show, modelled off Million Dollar Listing New York.

“I’m a natural in front of the camera, let’s just say that … I’m not afraid to do business the way I want to do it … and as long as I don’t break the law, I’m happy to break the rules of real estate. I’m definitely not one of those old guys with a tie done up so tight I can’t breathe,” he said.

“I’ve got everything that anyone could dream of, and I’ve achieved it under 30; me, the refugee boy.”

Has he made his parents proud?

“Yeah, sort of, I hope so,” he laughed. “But like most parents from those sort of cultural backgrounds, they’d prefer I was a doctor.”
