Influencer Bec Judd has again slammed Premier Jacinta Allan amid another home invasion in Melbourne’s bayside suburbs, that left an elderly man fighting for life.
Three offenders broke into a home on Anita St Beaumaris about 1.30am Monday, and left a 74-year-old man with serious injuries to his head and face.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Judd, a mum of four, labelled it “Just another night in Victoria”.
“Just another night in Victoria (yes, this is Bayside again but we know this happens everywhere).
“Jacinta Allan how are you still avoiding this? Let’s see how many of the alleged offenders are out on bail … Thoughts are with the victim in ICU and his poor wife.”
Judd has previously hit out at the state’s justice system over Victoria’s spiralling youth crime wave.
Judd, who lives in Brighton and boasts more than 750,000 followers on social media, has accused the government of “staying quiet” on youth crime gangs.
A 75-year-old woman who was also home at the time of the aggravated burglary in Beaumaris was not hurt during the attack.
Police say nothing was stolen from the home.
It is understood the mystery offenders terrorised the couple in an attack that lasted about seven minutes.
Liberal Sandringham MP Brad Rowswell said residents were frustrated and frightened amid a spate of recent incidents in the area.
“The impact of this latest violent crime in my community has left families living in fear,” he told the Herald Sun.
“Anita Street is a quiet residential street, home to residents who have a right to feel safe.
“These residents are sick and tired of excuses. They just want the state government to give Victoria Police the powers and resources they need to do their job and keep the community safe.
“I will continue to work with my community and support them during these most challenging times.”
Judd previously slammed state authorities over their handling of crime, particularly offences committed by youths, in the bayside area.
“Pretty sure someone warned to government about this back in 2022 and was rubbished,” she posted to Instagram, referencing Dan Andrews shutting down her previous complaints.
“They didn’t care then and they don’t care now. This is a Victorian-wide issue, not just Bayside,” she said last week.
Bayside has seen a 43 per cent increase in aggravated burglaries in the past year.
There was an average of 16 criminal incidents recorded in the bayside local government area every day in 2023.
