After three and a half days of uncertainty, Daisy the labrador puppy has been returned home.
The nine-week old was taken on Friday afternoon from the Ezzy family’s Kensington Rd backyard.
However, this morning the golden labrador was found by a woman walking on Crown St in Flemington.
Owner Anna Ezzy says she was “so pleased” to have had Daisy returned home safely and was notified by the woman upon the pooch being found.
“We have been so heartbroken over the last four days that we haven’t had her at home with us so the sense of relief and joy when I got the call this morning was amazing.” Mrs Ezzy said.
“She was found on the street in Flemington without her collar and the lady that found her had to go to work,
“So she left her with another lady who gave me a call and also called the police.
“I knew immediately when I saw her that it was her but because she didn’t have her collar on I did take her by the vet to check her microchip and it was her.”
Daisy was a birthday present to Mrs Ezzy’s daughter Sophie who turns seven on Friday.
The family are relieved Daisy will be home in time to celebrate Sophie’s birthday.
“One of the hardest things was not knowing what had happened to her – whether she was being cared for,” Mrs Ezzy said.
“We are really pleased that she is going to be home for Sophie’s birthday.”
Mrs Ezzy also praised the Kensington and Flemington councils for their support in finding Daisy.
Police are still investigating how Daisy was stolen.
