Crown Casino workers have ended their months-long industrial action, after agreeing to a new pay offer that will see some wages boosted by up to $40,000.

Casino workers have agreed to suspend industrial action against Melbourne’s Crown Casino after receiving a new pay offer that could see some workers wages rise by $40,000.

The United Workers Union announced the ceasefire today, revealing the proposal includes workers receiving a wage rise of 3.25 per cent annually, and changes that amount to a 20 per cent increase in full-time jobs over the term of the new agreement.

In addition, Crown has reportedly also agreed to changes in part-time work positions, which will leave some workers up to $40,000 per year better off.

The latest offer comes after hundreds of workers marched in Melbourne’s streets as part of the seven-month industrial campaign.

Staff also threatened to derail the casinos’ operations during the Melbourne racing festival.

United Workers Union National Secretary Tim Kennedy said the result was promising and staff were overwhelmingly supportive of the new offer.

“Because workers stood up and were ready to take strike action, we’ve been able to secure a settlement with Crown that, once formally accepted, will transform job security at the casino,” he said.

The deal comes as industrial action continues at Crown’s operation in Perth.

Crown has been contacted for comment.

Casino spokeswoman Natasha Stipanov said the proposal was fair and reasonable.

“Crown Melbourne has made a very fair and reasonable offer in settlement of our proposed new agreement, which will be considered by our employees in the near future,” she said.

“Our offer positively addresses key concerns raised by the union in these meetings including increased wages; improved hours work arrangements for part time employees; increased full time employment opportunities; improved learning access; and better redundancy payments.” “Our offer also recognises our commitment to continuing to provide a flexible workplace to meet our operational and employee needs.”
