Christmas Weather 2023: Near perfect weather expected across Victoria

Victorians are in for a treat this festive season with near perfect weather expected for much of the state.
Early forecasts from AccuWeather show Christmas Day in Melbourne is tipped to reach an afternoon high of 30C and morning low of 13C, with mostly sunny conditions.
Christmas Eve is expected to be sunny and reach a top of 28C, with a low of 12C. Boxing Day is also set to be a hot one, partly sunny, with a top of 28C and low of 14C.
AccuWeather senior commodity forecaster Dale Mohler said Melburnians can expect a drier and warmer Christmas this year due to the El Nino weather pattern.
“It’s mostly likely to be dry with partial sunshine,” Mr Mohler said.
“There are risks of wildfires as the summer advances, so there is the risk of wildfires burning in late December outside of Melbourne including on and in the days surrounding Christmas Day.”
Across the state, both the Mornington Peninsula and the Bellarine will see mostly sunny conditions on Christmas Day with a top of 22C and 23C respectively, and a low of 14C.
In Gippsland, Metung is forecasted to reach similar temperatures – a cooler 20C on Christmas Eve, warming to 22C on Christmas Day, with mostly clear skies.
The average high on Christmas Day in Melbourne is 24C with a low of 12C. Last Christmas was dry and hot reaching 32.2C, with a low of 10.8C.
The Bureau of Meteorology will release an official forecast a week before Christmas.
