Comedian and radio host Tommy Little has taken his interest in boxing to a new level — challenging Tim Tszyu to a bout with a difference.
Little was ringside at Wednesday night’s No Limit Boxing fight night where he met Tyson Fury.
He is taking on Tszyu on Friday, combining his love of kebabs with boxing for a KeBoxing match. He is eating a full kebab before each round dressed as a kebab.
His FOX FM radio co-host Carrie Bickmore has named herself Tommy’s ‘Momager’ and will be on the sidelines with a bucket.
It’s preparation ahead of Tszyu defending his WBO super-welterweight interim world title against Mexican challenger Carlos Ocampo on June 18 on the Gold Coast and available on PPV Main Event (Foxtel and Kayo Sports).
Little joined of Melbourne’s biggest names have descended on Margaret Court Arena to watch one of the state’s most anticipated nights of boxing.
Dozens of celebrities, sportspeople and the occasional underworld figure filled the crowd, roaring to life when Joseph Parker and Django Opelu touched gloves for the heavyweight title on Wednesday night.
Boxing legend Tyson Fury was also there to assess Wednesday night’s talent.
Fury, the current world heavyweight champion, thanked the “fantastic people” of Melbourne for making him feel so welcome in his trip down under.
“I’ve absolutely enjoyed my time in Melbourne, I just want to say a big shoutout to all the Melbourne people who took me in as one of their own,” he said.
“Absolutely fantastic people, and I hope to come back and fight here one day.”
Mick Gatto sat ringside alongside dozens of his associates.
Current and former AFL stars were also there to watch three-time premiership hero Cameron Mooney take on former Bomber Tom Bellchambers in a heavyweight undercard bout.
Many of Mooney’s co-stars from Fox Footy were there in support, with Jason Dunstall, Andrew Gaze and Ben Dixon cheering him on.
Current footy stars Tom Mitchell, Tim Taranto, Brad Hill, Aaron Naughton, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, Josh Dunkley, Jake Melksham and Josh Carmichael were also spotted ringside.
Former footballers Michael Long, David King, John Platten, Mitch Robinson and Nathan Jones also enjoyed a couple of refreshments with friends.
Comedians Mick Molloy, Anthony “Lehmo” Lehmann, Dave Thornton, Tommy Little, Titus O’Reily and the Shepmates boys shared a plethora of laughs.
Bellchambers — who had a 24kg advantage over Cameron Mooney — was crowned the winner during the third round of their bout.
“It was a bit of a whirlwind, he got me with a couple of good ones, that was everything I thought it would be,” he said post-fight.
Mooney, who won flags at Geelong and North Melbourne, was gracious in defeat.
“I’ve been wanting to get into the ring for a long time, I’ve finally ticked this one off the bucket list,” he said.
