MELBOURNE has a new “sky park” with the opening of a tower in a development linking Docklands with the CBD.
One Melbourne Quarter is the first commercial building of the 2.5ha Melbourne Quarter precinct on Collins St.
The 13-level tower features a sky park, which is publicly accessible via a spiral staircase from street level.

The first stage of the park has opened and has wi-fi access and a so-called biophilic design, reflecting the natural world.
Developer Lendlease has relocated 400 staff to the building occupying levels four to six.
Staff will have a “wellness hub” offering lifestyle seminars, health checks and group training activities like yoga and pilates.
Other building features include an event space, a hi-tech immersion room, a social hub with a barista and interconnecting stairs across the three floors.
Lendlease Group chief executive officer Steve McCann said One Melbourne Quarter exemplified the company’s integrated model.
“Bringing our Melbourne workforce together in one central location means we’ll be more accessible to our customers while championing excellence, wellbeing and innovation,” he said.
One Melbourne Quarter will eventually host about 2500 workers, with design and engineering firm Arup already there, and AMP due to move in early 2019.
The tower was officially opened by Planning Minister Richard Wynne this morning.
Other attendees included Deputy Lord Mayor Arron Wood and new state Property Council executive director Cressida Wall.
The precinct’s next commercial tower, Two Melbourne Quarter, is currently under construction.
