THINK dogs are the only ones who do tricks? These crafty cats will prove you wrong at the first Cat Lovers Show, launching in Melbourne next month.

Robert Dollwet, a professional animal behaviourist, is responsible for training the talented felines.

He also runs popular social media handle Catmantoo, which documents the talents of his two cats, Didga and Boomer, to over a million followers.

“Didga has the Guinness World Record for most tricks by a cat in a minute and she’s able to walk backwards, jump into my arms and can even jump and land back on the skateboard,” he said.

“She’s even jumped over a rottweiler, but it took more than a year and a half of training to do so.”

Originally from California, Dollwet has lived in Tweed Heads, NSW, for the past decade where he runs his pet training business.

“There are so many things I love about my job, but helping animals live a better life is the primary goal,” he said.

“After the Cat Lovers Show I have a few rescue organisations on alert because I’m looking to foster again.”

Just don’t expect a name change. “I won’t be changing my business to ‘catmanthree’. It just doesn’t have the same ring to it.”

Skateboarding spectacles aside, there’s plenty of other offerings at the show, including appearances from celebrity vets Dr Katrina Warren and Dr Harry Cooper, multiple breed showcases, a pet-a-cat zone, cat market and various prizes up for grabs.

The Cat Lovers Show runs from September 8-9 at the Royal Exhibition Building. Tickets from $15.
