Car plunges into lake in Caroline Springs
Police believe a car that plunged into a lake in Melbourne’s west had been stolen from a home in Burnside Heights but mystery still surrounds the bizarre incident.

Mystery surrounds how a car ended up submerged in a lake in Melbourne’s west on Tuesday morning.
The car was found in the middle of Caroline Springs Lake, near Caroline Springs Boulevard and Lake St, about 7.30am on January 2.
Emergency services responded to reports of a grey Mitsubishi Outlander submerged in Caroline Springs Lake about 5.30am.
Police confirmed nobody was in the vehicle and there were no reports of injuries.
The Mitsubishi was towed from the lake to dry land.
Police said they believed that the Mitsubishi had been stolen earlier from a residence in Burnside Heights, between 9.30pm on January 1 and 5.30am on January 2.
Concerned residents took to social media to post about the incident, fearing the worst.
“I hope no one was hurt,” Jessica Mennea wrote on Facebook.
“Gotta love Criminal Springs,” Di Rov wrote.
Others saw the funny side.
“Didn’t know Fast (and the Furious) 11 was going to be filmed in Caroline Springs,” Nathan Brama joked.
“Drive-through car wash?” wrote Brendan Compton.
The investigation remains ongoing.
