Burst water pipe at Maroondah Hospital affects wards, inpatient areas impacted
Water has rushed through wards, causing disruption for staff and patients, after a bust pipe flooded parts of Maroondah Hospital.

An “incident” is under way at Maroondah Hospital in Melbourne after a burst water pipe caused flooding throughout the hospital.
No patients or staff have been injured but Eastern Health confirmed wards had been affected by the incident at the Ringwood East hospital.
An Eastern Health statement said it “has impacted some inpatient areas and rectification works are currently under way”.
“Staff and patient safety remains paramount and no injuries have occurred as a result of this situation.
“A further update will be provided shortly.”
A Fire Rescue Victoria spokeswoman said firefighters arrived just after 1pm on Thursday to find “the site flooded”.
“Four FRV trucks attended, with crews providing assistance with remediation and investigating the cause,” she said.
“FRV has declared the incident under control and is no longer at the scene.”
A Victorian government spokeswoman confirmed the incident led to “some disruption” and said Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas was receiving regular updates on the situation “as is standard practice”.
“Eastern Health has informed the Department of Health of an incident at Maroondah Hospital early this afternoon where a water pipe burst,” she said.
“This has led to some disruption, however Eastern Health have processes in place to deal with these types of scenarios.”
