An innocent woman cleaning her car at a bayside car wash was allegedly threatened and slashed with a machete in a frightening alleged armed robbery in broad daylight.

Detectives have swarmed the Ezy Bay car wash on Bay Rd in Cheltenham following reports two offenders allegedly targeted a 37-year-old woman vacuuming her car about 11.10am on Saturday.

The alleged offenders, percieved to be a man and woman in their 20s, drove through the wrong entry of the car wash before allegedly attacking the woman.

They are said to have jumped from their Subaru before slicing the woman’s hand.

One man, who reviewed the CCTV with detectives, said it was extremely brazen.

He said the pair of alleged offenders were not masked and made no efforts to conceal their identities.

He said their Subaru’s registration plate was clearly caught on camera.

“There was quite a lot of blood,” he said.

The pair of alleged offenders are also accused of stealing the woman’s phone and handbag before fleeing in a Subaru Impreza.

It is not known if the Subaru belongs to the victim or alleged offenders.

The Hampton East woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and the alleged offenders on Saturday afternoon remained unaccounted for.

It comes after an elderly man trying to back his car into his garage was slashed across the face in an ugly confrontation in Melbourne’s east.

Police were told a 73-year-old man was reversing into his driveway at his Keysborough home at about 7.40pm on Friday night when he was approached by a man and woman believed to be in their 30s.

It is alleged the pair began chatting with the man outside his home on Lakeview Boulevard before the woman slashed him to the face with a sharp object.

The elderly man’s arms were also injured during the attack. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The pair fled the scene in a white vehicle.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
