The fan favourite had previously been ruled out from attending the Grand Final to see his beloved Doggies battle it out at the MCG on Saturday.
Sid, the British bulldog, discovered the “very disappointing and unfortunate” news on Monday after coming back from “walkies.”
He has volunteered for the club for over six years, taking the leash from Butch who was getting overly amorous for a Magpies’ mascot.
Sid’s Murlane Bulldog owners say he hasn’t been sacked by the Western Bulldogs, but that it was the club’s decision for him not to attend any Grand Final celebrations this weekend.
“We can’t comment,” a spokeswoman for Sid said.
“But it’s very disappointing and unfortunate.”
They said Sid was not aggressive and loves attending games.
“He hasn’t got a bad bone in his body,” Sid’s spokeswoman said.
“He’s done nothing wrong.”
“He doesn’t have a problem with the crowds and he lights up the kids faces on the coldest of days.
“But there is nothing we can do about it.”
The Western Bulldogs’ said the club haven’t banned Sid and love him dearly.
It’s understood AFL’s strict restrictions on who and what can come on the ground on grand final day have made it tricky for Sid to attend.
We think it’s a bit ruff.
