EXCLUSIVE: Rogue anti-vax GP Dr John Piesse has lost his medical registration as his Mitcham clinic is put up for sale.
Australia’s health watchdog confirmed the controversial GP surrendered his registration last month, ending a legal battle stemming from claims he helped hundreds of families dodge vaccinations under the “no jab, no play” laws which require children to be vaccinated to attend childcare or kinder.
The Nerida James Natural Healing Centre on Whitehorse Rd where Dr Piesse practised has also been listed for sale with an asking price of $1.2 million.

The clinic was raided by police and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency last September.
Patient records and other documents were seized as part of a year-long probe into Dr Piesse.
While the clinic would not return calls to the Herald Sun today, AHPRA said that “following a decision to retire from practise”, Dr Piesse had withdrawn a legal application to regain his suspended medical registration.
“On 12 July, 2018, Dr Piesse’s name was taken off the public national Register of Medical Practitioners,” a spokeswoman said.

Victorian Health Minister Jill Hennessy today welcomed the outcome.
She said: “Nobody who uses their position to peddle unscientific information, putting lives at risk, should continue to be a doctor.”
A fundraising page initially established to pay Dr Piesse’s legal defence, but later amended to also “research on the history of unvaccinated children in his practice” has seen supporters donate $142,000.
The Herald Sun was not able to contact Dr Piesse prior to publication.
Dr Piesse’s registration was suspended in September after the Herald Sun revealed a video of him discussing his use of exemptions at an underground anti-vaxxer event.
The GP had since fought to overturn the suspension, but suffered a serious blow in May when he lost a bid to have his patients’ records thrown out as evidence.

During an earlier attempt by Dr Piesse to stay his suspension, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal found that even when he was aware of being under investigation for completing non-compliant immunisation status certificates, the GP continued to issue another 300 of the documents for his patients.
“He gives the strong impression of a person who does not recognise the authority of the regulator and the authority of government in matters to do with public health,” VCAT member Elisabeth Wentworth found.
She added: “There is little comfort in past and recent history that Dr Piesse could be trusted to abide by any conditions imposed or comply with undertakings given.”
