AUTHORITIES have raided the practice of rebel anti-vax doctor John Piesse with the assistance of Victoria Police.
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency searched the Nerida James Natural Healing Centre on Whitehorse Rd, Mitcham just after 8.30am on Friday.
The rebel practitioner said the AHPRA, a medical watchdog he has previously labelled “the Taliban” for its belief in compulsory immunisations, seized computers and patient files.
Dr Piesse is under investigation by the AHPRA over claims he has tried to help patients avoid compulsory immunisations.
The Herald Sun reported in August that the Department of Health lodged a notification about the Mitcham GP after he applied for exemptions from compulsory immunisations for patients on grounds the shots would damage their health.
“Anyone who doesn’t think the way AHPRA does is likely to get attacked,” Dr Piesse said at the time.
“The controlled trial could be done if you wanted to rigorously compare vaccinated to unvaccinated children, but ... they are basically pushing unproven vaccines and the governments advise their doctors to market them, as well.”
Dr Piesse last month agreed to stop treating patients.
Victoria’s Department of Health and Department of Education is investigating immunisation exemptions granted by him.
The AHPRA and the Department of Health have been contacted for comment about the raid.
