HE is going to be a bit longer in the tooth, greyer around the temple, and maybe not much wiser — but much loved outback adventurer Russell Coight is heading back to prime time.
Coight, the comic creation of Glenn Robbins, has had new life breathed into him by Channel Ten.
After a 16-year break, Coight’s return is looming with filming secretly getting underway on a new series of Russell Coight’s All Aussie Adventures.
The outback adventurer, whose calamity prone escapades parody real life wildlife warriors and adventure seekers, has been quietly back in front of the camera in recent weeks.
Robbins revealed at the 3AW Rumours Feast at the Plaza Ballroom in Melbourne on Friday that filming of the new episodes had begun, but that there was still plenty of work to do.
He said filming would continue through to the end of the year with the results set to air on Ten early next year.
It may be a winning move by Ten to resurrect the clueless Coight. Nostalgia is working for Channel Nine at present with the Kath and Kim back catalogue attracting surprisingly strong ratings.
Ten first announced plans for a new series of Russell Coight’s All Aussie Adventures at its 2017 Up Fronts presentation in November last year.
All Aussie Adventures ran on Ten from 2001 — 2002 with a telemovie airing in 2004.
