CHANNEL Nine has no plans to rein in Karl Stefanovic’s current spate of editorial bursts, following a week where he criticised the media coverage of Schapelle Corby’s release and delivered a broadside to online media site The Daily Mail.

As Today’s resident headline magnet Stefanovic doesn’t have to do much to find himself making news.

His marriage breakdown and subsequent new girlfriend have turned him into a walking soap opera this year.

Soapbox ready: Today hosts Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson have strong opinions.

And his editorial blasts entrench him further as a talking point.

Nine is reportedly unconcerned about his comments, with sources on Friday noting that Stefanovic’s co-host Lisa Wilkinson also regularly airs firm opinions on current and controversial issues.

Her thoughts however don’t garner the attention of Stefanovic’s.

“There is nothing new in Lisa and Karl getting on their soapbox,” the source said.

“There is no directive to stop it.”
