A South Gippsland craft brewery is set to secure naming rights for a motorsport event with a global audience of more than 100 million and broadcast to 180 countries around the world.
Grand Ridge Brewery, based in Mirboo North, has sponsored the last two Australian rounds of the World Superbike series at Phillip Island.
Grand Ridge managing director Eric Walters said the global appeal meant a continued sponsorship in 2024 “was more than likely”.
The brewery stepped in late last year when Yamaha Finance pulled out of the 2022 World Superbike round in November.
The series returned to the island in February with Grand Ridge branding going around the world again.
Mr Walters said he was proud to a part of such a major international sporting event.
“It’s the perfect platform to share our beers and ciders to a broader audience and get our name out there.’’
The brewery even created a World Superbike pilsner for last month’s event when Spanish Ducati rider and defending champion Alvaro Bautista continued his dominance at the island circuit.
Beer is brewed by the family-owned company in an old butter factory in the town, about 100km from the famous Phillip Island track.
The brewery employs about 30 people.
Grand Ridge can lay claim to being the original craft brewer when it started up 30 years ago.
The company has since bounced back since Covid devastated the hospitality industry and is now eyeing expansion home and abroad.
