AGE and a very late night timeslot have not wearied Rex Hunt, who is spouting his unique views on law and order and stoushing with callers.

REJUVENATED 3AW host Rex Hunt has been taking aim at idiots and spouting his unique views on law and order in the shadows of midnight.

As the clock inched towards the witching hour on Thursday, Hunt called for police to be able to dish out some rough justice in order to knock some sense and respect into crooks.

His stance came after an old foe, Peter, called in to take the ex-policeman to task.

“Rex, you know how you talk about the old coppers, this and that, what about the days you used to belt us around Richmond, Fitzroy and this and that. You don’t bring that up do you,” Peter said.

“I remember you, Peter,” Hunt said with a head of steam building.

“I remember the day that you spat in my face in Bridge Road and I punched you fair and square in the nose.

“And you know what, I reckon if a few coppers did that to some of these people today we would not have people invading homes, raping women, smashing jewellery stores and you know what Peter, your old man should have settled for the foreplay.”

Age and a very late night timeslot have clearly not wearied the bearded burbler, with his Footy Nightline show emerging as entertaining listening packed with surprises.

Once the most recognisable voice in footy, Hunt, 68, left AW in 2009 in favour of Triple M before moving to CrocMedia’s AFL Live. He returned to AW earlier this year.
