Two men, Ethan Ross and Henry Cox now charged with supplying drugs to Amy Bowden

Amy Bowden moved to South Australia to turn her life around. Now, these two men have been charged over her tragic death.

What happened to Amy Bowden?

A young woman who moved to South Australia to change her life around - and overcome a drug habit - died on the floor of her Redwood Park home.

Paramedics rushed to Amy Bowden’s home in February and tried to revive her, but she passed away from a suspected drug overdose.

In the days that followed, friends and family mourned the “beautiful, vibrant” young lady.

Since her death, two men have been arrested and charged - including her former partner Ethan Ross - but what happened to Amy Bowden, and who is the second person now charged?

Who is Henry Cox?

Henry Lachlan Cox, 19, allegedly brought drugs to Amy and Ethan Ross’ home on the night of February 7 - just hours before paramedics arrived at the home and failed to revive Amy.

Police allege Mr Cox was called to bring the drugs over when Mr Ross messaged him and said he’d already injected her with meth, but needed more.

“I’ve already put a point in her,” Mr Ross allegedly texted Mr Cox.

“She’s breathing normal so I know another half to a point will have her up. Her lips were purple. They’re not now.”

Mr Cox first appeared in court alongside Mr Ross on July 23, with both men charged with supplying/administering a controlled drug.

He sat silently in the dock of the Adelaide Magistrates Court as prosecutors joined his file with Mr Ross’.

How is he involved?

In court documents released to The Advertiser, police allege Mr Ross had texted Mr Cox and asked him to bring over “yellow bricks” - aka methamphetamine - because Amy had overdosed on heroin and he needed to “pick her up”.

“It’s the only way to wake her up,” he allegedly sent her.

Police allege Mr Ross had told Mr Cox he wouldn’t call an ambulance to the home on the night of Amy’s death because if he did, Amy would be cut from her methadone program if a doctor found out she’d overdosed.

“He then stated ‘you saved me an $800 ambulance bill’,” police documents say.

It is alleged Mr Cox delivered drugs to the Redwood Park premises “on or about the 7th day of February”, according to court documents.

Who is Ethan Ross?

Mr Ross is Amy’s former partner, and the first person charged over her suspected drug-related death.

He previously worked as a cyber security engineer with a defence force contractor, and had “significant clearance” in his role.

Police allege he ordered drugs, and then used them on Amy to counteract the heroin, a downer, with an “upper”.

In the days following his arrest, Mr Ross asked the Elizabeth Magistrates Court to release him on bail, but that request was denied “due to the seriousness of the allegations”.

“Through further investigation, there were up to four phones that were seized (from Mr Ross),” prosecutors said at that hearing.

His lawyer told Magistrate Lana Chester that he had been “struggling, but wants to fight his struggles.”

“Taking into account all of the material before me, I do not consider Mr Ross a good candidate for bail in any form,” Magistrate Chester said.

“These are very serious allegations indeed.”

What happens next?

Mr Ross remains in custody after his failed bid for bail, but Mr Cox was released on bail, meaning he is currently out in the community.

Both men will face court - where they are expected to answer their charges - in September.
