Alleged meth dealer Henry Cox charged alongside Ethan Ross over drug death of Amy Bowden

A man who alleged sold meth to a man who used it to save his girlfriend from a heroin overdose has appeared in court for the first time.

An alleged drug dealer that police allege sold meth to a man who then used it to “counteract” the heroin his girlfriend had overdosed on has appeared in court for the first time.

Henry Lachlan Cox, 19, was silent in the dock of the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning as prosecutors told the court he would be jointly charged alongside Ethan Lenny George Ross, 27, over the drug related death of a young woman earlier this year.

Amy Bowden, who was raised in Victoria, tragically died in her Redwood Park home in February from a suspected drug overdose.

Prosecutors previously alleged she had overdosed on heroin before her boyfriend Mr Ross injected her with methamphetamine in an attempt to counteract the “downer” with an “upper”.

Mr Ross has since been charged with supplying or administering a controlled drug and has been in custody since his arrest. He has not been charged with causing her death.

In court on Tuesday afternoon, prosecutor Tracey Nelson told Magistrate John Wells Mr Ross’ charges were due to join up with charges against his alleged dealer, Mr Cox.

Mr Cox, 18, has also been charged with supplying or administering drugs to another person.

In documents previously released to The Advertiser, police allege Mr Ross had contacted Mr Cox on the evening before Ms Bowden’s death to obtain the methamphetamine.

“On or about the 7th day of February 2024, at Redwood Park, (Mr Cox) supplied a controlled drug, other than cannabis, to another person,” the documents allege.

In one conversation with Mr Cox, Mr Ross allegedly asked him to deliver “yellow bricks” so he could “shoot (Ms Bowden) with it and pick her up,” the documents stated.

“I’ve already put a point in her,” police allege Mr Ross sent to Mr Cox.

“She’s breathing normal so I know another half to a point will have her up. Her lips were purple. They’re not now.”

Neither Mr Ross or Mr Cox entered pleas, and both are due to appear in court again in September.

In March, Ms Bowden’s family shared tributes to the young woman, who would have been celebrating her 27th birthday.

“I have loved you Amy from the day I first met you,” her father Bryan said.

“Amy was a bright, happy and well-liked child who had a wide group of friends and family who she cared for greatly. She was a very caring and kind person who made everyone feel loved and welcomed. ”
