Four teen girls – one as young as 13 – were arrested on Thursday after a massive search across Adelaide involving the police helicopter.

Police were called to Newton Blvd at Munno Para after reports a group of youths entered a business, threatened and assaulted a staff member before stealing keys to a white Toyota Corolla, about 12.30am.

Police said the suspects then drove off in the Corolla.

Police searched the area with the help of the police helicopter but were unable to find the car until about 2.40am, when the car was spotted on Anzac Highway at Plympton.

The car was not pursued, but officers followed the car as it travelled through West Tce then Port Rd before stopping in Koolunda Ave at Woodville where all four suspects were arrested.

A 16-year-old girl from Elizabeth North, a 15-year-old girl from Andrews Farm, a 14-year-old girl from Munno Para and a 13-year-old girl from Smithfield Plains were all charged with numerous offences including illegal use of a motor vehicle, assault and theft.

They were all bailed to appear in court at a later date.

It comes after a group of seven boys – one just 12 years old – were arrested for a separate car jacking also at Munno Para earlier this week.

Police alleged a man was assaulted and his Toyota Corolla stolen in the violent robbery in a McDonald’s carpark just after midnight on Monday, September 23.
