A manhunt has been launched after a shooting in Adelaide’s northern suburbs on Thursday morning, with police investigating if a burnt-out car is linked to the incident.

Police were called to Bolivar Rd about 3.50am after reports a man had been shot.

A 34-year-old man from Burton sustained a wound to his leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Police searched the area but could not find the suspect.

On Thursday afternoon, police said the investigation into the incident was ongoing.

“No one has been arrested at this time,” a spokeswoman said.

Nearby residents told The Advertiser they were not surprised to hear about the shooting on Thursday morning.

One neighbour, who asked to remain anonymous, said police were at the house in April and then again two months ago, appearing to search the premises.

Another neighbour, Chelsea Smith, said police had previously raided the house.

“It’s not unusual to basically have this sort of sh*t happening,” she said.

Ms Smith said she was awake to feed her baby around 3am but did not hear any gunshots.

Several neighbours said they only learned about the shooting when police knocked on their door in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Ms Smith said she was concerned about a shooting happening in her neighbourhood, particularly because she had young children.

“Having, obviously, two young kids … more concerned with their safety,” she said.

Another neighbour, who did not want to be identified, said residents of the property had “a history”.

“The foot traffic’s incredible,” he said.

“Police are always around, always doing drive bys.”

Burton resident Sue Guest told The Advertiser that she heard some metal banging at around 3:45 in the morning but didn’t think much of it because there was “always something going on” around this time.

Several cars could be seen in the yard of the Bolivar Rd home on Thursday morning.

CCTV cameras were mounted around the house.

CCTV footage seen by The Advertiser shows at least two people walking towards the house about 3:45am.

Police are investigating if the fire is linked to the earlier shooting.

The incident was not believed to be random.
