Ava Wheaton, 18, Jovan Trandafilov, 45, charged over Ingle Farm drug bust

A teenage girl arrested alongside a 45-year-old man in an Ingle Farm bedroom has allegedly made key admissions to police, a court has heard.

The Advertiser, 7NEWS Adelaide: Emotional Stevens hearing, Crows & Power's big win

A girl, 18, arrested in the northern suburbs bedroom of a man, 45, told police 125g of drugs and more than $40,000 cash seized “was hers and she would take responsibility for it,” a court has heard.

However, the Adelaide Magistrates Court has also heard Ava Wheaton denies any knowledge of three firearms buried in the property’s back yard, seized by police in the same search.

On Friday, counsel for Ms Wheaton asked she be released on strict - but not home detention - bail to live with her grandparents.

They said she “was not doing well” in adult custody since she and Jovan Trandafilov were arrested on Thursday, warranting her release.

A police prosecutor disagreed, saying the charges were too serious.

“Information had been received that the defendants were in possession of a traffickable amount of methylamphetamine,” she said.

“Ms Wheaton told police ‘whatever was in the bedroom’ was hers and she ‘would take responsibility for it’.”

Ms Wheaton, 18, of Redwood Park and Mr Trandafilov, 45, of Ingle Farm, have yet to plead to two counts of trafficking a controlled drug, money laundering and possessing firearms without a licence.

The charges arise from a police search of an Ingle Farm home on Thursday.

Detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch searched a Ingle Farm home and found about 125gms of methamphetamine, 134 tablets of suboxone, $41,250 cash and three gel blaster firearms.

Following the search, the prohibited items were seized.

In court on Friday, the prosecutor said the drugs were found in the bedroom with Ms Wheaton and Mr Trandafilov.

Some of the suboxone, she said, had been placed inside balloons.

“Ms Wheaton denied any knowledge of the firearms, which had been buried inside a black Nike duffel bag in the back yard,” she said.

Counsel for Ms Wheaton said their client was a good candidate for bail, butMagistrate Christopher Smolicz said there was a bigger issue.

“Your client has, on the prosecution summary, made admissions,” he said.

“I’m looking at home detention (bail), given her age and lack of history, as a compromise.”

He remanded Ms Wheaton in custody for two weeks, pending a bail report.

Mr Trandafilov did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to face court again in January.
