Major Crime investigators at Glenelg North home after two bodies found in suspected murder-suicide

Detectives are scouring a Glenelg North home after two men were found dead in a suspected murder-suicide, with neighbours reporting “strange and bizarre” scenes.

Murder-suicide in Glenelg North

Major Crime investigators remained at a Glenelg North home on Wednesday after two bodies were found in a suspected murder-suicide.

Police were first called to leafy, tree-lined Kibby Ave home at 1.30pm Tuesday after reports an 88-year-old man was found dead. At the time, police were unable to establish a cause of death and an investigation began.

Police and paramedics were then called back in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

They say a 63-year-old Glenelg man was found dead at the home at 4.10am and the SES was called in for assistance.

The Advertiser understands the two men were father and son who lived at the home together.

Detectives spent the morning removing evidence from the home.

Detectives from Western District, Forensic Response Section and Major Crime Investigation Branch attended the scene and are treating the incident as a murder-suicide.

Police officers were seen removing two large desk computers from the house and placing them into a car about 2:30pm.

Police also took away brown evidence bags from the Kibby Ave residence.

The deaths have rocked the neighbourhood, with several neighbours reporting two people left the house for a walk about 4.20pm on Tuesday, after the coroner had first attended.

Keith Miller, 74, said he overheard them say the older man had been feeling unwell that morning and had gone back to bed after breakfast

Another neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said the couple in their 60s appeared upset.

“The man actually put his arm around her,” she said.

“And because they were hugging and walking down the street there I thought they’re obviously distressed about what’s happened.”

She said the situation was “very strange and bizarre”.

Mr Miller said he was stunned by the deaths so close to his home.

“I don’t believe it. They were lovely people, I don’t believe it,” Mr Miller said, adding the older deceased man “kept to himself”.

“But everyone in the house got along fine. I never heard any loud or strange noises coming from the house, and they were all very friendly when we’d see each other.”

Police said in a statement: “The investigation is in its early stages and police need to conduct further investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding both deaths.”

It comes after Jodie Jewell was found dead in her home last week, shot dead by her husband Kevin Jewell. His body was found on the Yorke Peninsula after a two-day manhunt for the “armed and dangerous” killer.

Along with the deaths of three other women, Ms Jewell’s shooting sparked calls for a royal commission into domestic violence.

In a horror seven days the bodies of four women, allegedly killed by a man known to them, have been discovered on November 15 at Felixstow, November 16 near Port Augusta, November 19 in Morphett Vale and Ms Jewell on November 21 in Modbury North.
