A man has been arrested almost a week after a woman’s body was found in a Felixstow home.
The 50-year-old man from Felixstow was arrested by APY Lands detectives in the state’s Far North about 2.40pm on Tuesday and charged with murder.
He is expected to appear in Coober Pedy Magistrates Court later on Wednesday.
The arrest comes almost a week after the 44-year-old woman’s body was found in a house on St Margarets Cres. She is believed to be one of the unit’s residents.
Police and Major Crime detectives scoured two units on the street for almost 24 hours after they were called to the cul-de-sac about 1.30pm on November 15.
Several items were removed from both houses including what appeared to be an arm chair wrapped in paper.
A police spokesperson said the accused is known to the victim and no other suspects were being sought.
Last week, nearby neighbour Lewis Baker said he was shocked to see police on his street and to hear a woman’s body had been found there.
“The street was blocked off and detectives (were there) … I’m not sure what was going on,” he said.
Mr Baker said the people who lived in the unit where the body was found were “good people”.
“It’s a strange thing … a spooky street or something,” he said.
