A man who allegedly stalked one of his former romantic partners and daughter after no contact for four years has asked to be released on bail for a third time.
Darren Wayne Armitage, a senior project manager for EDL Energy, appeared in the Supreme Court via video from the Adelaide Remand Centre on an application for a review of bail conditions.
Justice Anne Bampton heard submissions the 51-year-old had allegedly been driving in front of a former partner – who had their teen daughter as a passenger – near his Prospect home.
The court heard the woman noticed the vehicle, which then slowed to a stop prior to reversing at them in an “aggressive” manner before blocking the road.
Mr Armitage was allegedly identified as the driver of the vehicle by his former partner, who remained stopped for a time before she was able to manoeuvre past.
It is alleged later that evening, Mr Armitage attended the woman’s home and left a card.
The court heard Mr Armitage had allegedly been seen attending multiple school events including graduations, debates and sports day where he observed, but did not engage with his daughter.
He is not alleged to have stalked his daughter.
An affidavit supplied to the court by the woman said Mr Armitage had not been in contact with his daughter in at least four years.
Mr Armitage was arrested for stalking and breaching bail on January 9, 2025, and was refused bail by Magistrate Mark Semmens after appearing in court the next day.
The court heard Mr Armitage had been on bail at the time of the alleged new offending.
The court also heard two other women had alleged Mr Armitage had stalked them on separate occasions – with one alleging GPS trackers were found in her vehicle – and all three had communicated with one another.
Counsel for Armitage said there was no suggestion any of the women had engaged in “collusion” and he had previously been granted bail in relation to prior allegations.
Defence submitted their client had been compliant with all conditions of his bail conditions and had been granted permission to travel between Brisbane and Adelaide to attend project sites for his employment.
Justice Bampton said she required more information about Mr Armitage’s relationship with his now-estranged daughter before making a decision to release him on bail again.
The matter will return to court next week.
