A man was rushed to hospital with a serious laceration after an alleged assault involving a machete at Gawler overnight.
Police were called to Murray St about 12.10am on Monday after a man reported being assaulted by a group of three men.
One of the suspects was armed with a machete at the time.
The victim, a 22-year-old man from Gawler South, sustained a serious laceration to his arm and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Murray St was closed for hours while police examined the crime scene but was reopened about 4.15am.
It is early in the investigation however the incident is not believed to be random.
