Named: Teen dies after being run over on roadway at Hivesville

A teenage boy who died after being run over in the early hours of Saturday morning in the South Burnett has been identified.

A teenage boy has died after being run over while lying in the road early on Saturday morning.

Kyan Martin, 18, was killed in the incident on July 19, at Hivesville in the South Burnett.

Initial investigations indicated a Toyota HiLux was travelling on Wondai Preston Road about 6am when it struck Mr Martin, who was lying on the roadway.

Mr Martin sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

His death is one of 16 in the past week on Queensland roads, sparking a peak motoring body warning Queensland is again on track to post a record year of road deaths.

A total of 158 people have died due to road crashes as of July 20 – six of those on Saturday and Sunday.

Tom Taekeun Lee paid tribute to Mr Martin on Facebook.

“Thank you for always welcoming me whenever I came to the distribution,” he wrote.

“You’ll never be forgotten.”

Forensic Crash Unit investigations into the circumstances of the incident are underway.
