A section of popular western suburbs shopping centre Highpoint has been closed, after a section of the ceiling fell onto a walkway below.

A busy western suburbs shopping centre is partially closed this afternoon due to safety concerns.
A section of Highpoint Shopping Centre is closed on Level 3 due to “safety concerns”.
The area between the food court and Cotton On Body is completely closed due to a panel which fell from the roof.

Sources said safety checks were now underway.
Stores at the busy shopping centre in the closed section have been closed for approximately three hours.

A Highpoint spokeswoman confirmed the closure.
“Earlier today, Highpoint Centre Management were alerted to an incident that took place on Level 3, where a ceiling panel has fallen in an area that is undergoing renovation works,” the spokeswoman said.
“Centre management attended the scene immediately and provided assistance, and an area of the centre has now been closed as a safety precaution.
“The safety of our customers, retailers and our staff is of paramount importance.
“The immediate area will remain closed while a thorough inspection is completed and until such time as it deemed safe to re-open.”
