The lavish entertainment at the White House state dinner has been pared back and, it seems, so has the food and drink offering, with the all-American menu not so Australian.

Rock Lobster is off the menu, with the Bidens dropping hit band The B-52s and toning down the entertainment for the White House state dinner.
But have they done the same with the food?
First Lady Jill Biden has given us a taste of the menu.
The female-curated, three-course feast includes pumpkin soup, beetroot salad, beef ribs, chocolate mousse and a weird over-inclusion of sorghum (a cereal puff).
Australia’s “vibrant” spring and “crisp American autumn” was the dinner’s inspo, but there’s nothing Aussie or spring about it.
Unless we claim beetroot as our national veg.
Instead it’s a step above the wholesome, hug-in-a bowl type eating you’d expect at nan’s house in the depths of winter.
Though, in fairness, it is -4C in Washington DC.
Serving soup at events is a little cringe, and gives 80s/alternate wedding drop vibes, though nobody will ever be mad with chocolate mousse.
For drinks, they’ve also played it safe: an all-USA line-up that ranges between $65-$85 US ($101-$130 AUD).
The vintage sparkling wine from Oregon is a pinot-leaning fizz with more than 10 years of age to it.
