NT missing people: Angie Fuller’s father Tony Fuller shares ‘indescribable tragedy’ waiting for answers

Two years after a Territory mum vanished into the outback, NT Police are reviewing a recommendation to double the reward for information over her suspected homicide.

Loved ones of a missing Territory mum have been trapped in a living nightmare for two years, waiting for the grim news confirming her suspected homicide in the heart of the Central Australian desert.

Last week marked the two year anniversary since 30-year-old Angie-Lee Fuller vanished from the Tanami Rd highway, north west of Alice Springs.

Ms Fuller was last seen at 6.40pm on Monday January 9, 2023, travelling in a red Toyota Corolla at a truck stop north of Alice Springs.

Twelve hours after CCTV captured Ms Fuller leaving the station, her red Corolla was found abandoned on the Tanami Rd.

It took more than 48 hours for Ms Fuller to be officially reported missing, sparking a 15 day-long search in the peak of summer through 400 sqkm of difficult desert terrain.

Her father Tony Fuller said not a single day had passed without him thinking of his daughter “or doing something towards finding her”.

“It is such an indescribable tragedy, not just her two little girls and family, but her many friends from all walks of life that have reached out for their heartfelt feelings to be heard,” he said.

Mr Fuller remains confident the detectives on his daughter's case were working towards “getting the result we all want, and Angie-Lee deserves”.

“I will not accept anything less than the truth and therefore justice,” he said.

“I know the truth will provide for Angie-Lee being located.”

NT Police confirmed her disappearance continued to be treated as a homicide, with a $250,000 reward on the table for information that will lead to the location of her body, or the conviction of those responsible for her death.

Investigators have previously confirmed a suspected “person involved” was with Ms Fuller at the truck stop before her disappearance, and said it appeared that her car was run off the road following a two-vehicle incident.

During the search in 2023, a man who claimed to be Ms Fuller’s boyfriend posted a series of bizarre videos claiming the pair were chased into the desert by unknown gun-toting assailants after their car became bogged.

The Alice Springs man, who identified himself as a “sovereign man”, said he and his girlfriend fled into bushland and were separated while dodging bullets from an unknown group of “blokes”.

“Me and my girlfriend got ran off the road and got shot at by a gang,” he claimed in a video.

“It just multiplied, more carloads were just rocking up … hectically.

“I heard her one more time and she’s screaming out ‘Get the f--k away from me’.”

Two years on, a NT Police spokeswoman confirmed the investigation was still “ongoing” but was unable to disclose any details about their communication with the relevant persons of interest.

“Northern Territory Police Force have spoken to a number of persons of interest, however we cannot speak on particular individuals,” she said.

Following the coronial inquest into fellow missing person Richard Roe, the coroner recommended that NT Police double the cap on the reward for information from $250,000 to $500,000.

Ahead of the two-year anniversary of her disappearance, police said they were still reviewing the recommendations from the coroner to increase the cash reward.

Ms Fuller and Mr Roe are among only five missing Territorians with a bounty for information on offer — with others including Paddy Moriarty, Peter Falconio, Norman Lawson.

Yet as the wait for answers stretches on, her friends and family continue to remember the Territory mum as a shining light, who overcame a heartbreaking cycle of addiction and abuse and went on to help others.

Ms Fuller lost two years and six months of her life to a jail cell over drug charges, with the 2021 Supreme Court hearing her addiction was triggered by her need to escape her own “feelings of worthlessness” amid romantic relationships marred by violence.

While in prison Ms Fuller took part in the YWCA’s Women of Worth program — before its funding was cut — which helped her promise to abstain from dangerous drugs even working at Drug and Alcohol Services Australia after her release.

In a haunting DASA video released months before she disappeared, the young mum described how she had turned her life around.

“If I could speak to my younger self, I would tell myself that life will get easier,” Ms Fuller said.

“You can’t help what’s happened, it’s not your fault.

“It does get easier.

“Life is good.”
