Top End man faces court after allegedly threatening campers at Gunn Point with rifle

A Top End man has been assessed for bail after allegedly pointing a gun at a group of campers at Gunn Point on the weekend. Find out what happened.

A Top End man has faced court after allegedly pointing a gun at a group of people at Gunn Point following an altercation.

Jason Lee Thomsen, 51, appeared in the Darwin Local Court on Tuesday charged with pointing a rifle at a group and threatening them at a camping ground about 4.20pm on Sunday.

Humpty Doo police and specialist command arrested the win without incident, seizing a rifle and ammunition from the camping area.

Police later searched the man’s home at Marlow Lagoon finding seven registered firearms and one unregistered firearm.

He has been charged with a range of offences including three counts of threats to kill, three counts of aggravated assault, possess unregistered firearm and possess firearm while intoxicated.

Mr Thomson appeared before Judge Ben O’Loughlin on Tuesday where he was bailed to return to court on July 14.
