Berry Springs storm lightning strike hits three men

A man is in a critical condition after two men were struck by lightning south of Darwin.

UPDATE: A MAN who was struck by lightning at a Berry Springs worksite remains in a critical condition five days after being raced to hospital.

Three men were working at Berry Springs on Monday when a bolt hit the ground near them.

The men were injured in the shockwave, with one 30-year-old man was in a critical condition.

A St John Ambulance NT spokeswoman said bystanders kept the 30-year-old man’s heart going by performing CPR until paramedics arrived on the scene.

He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition.

A 31-year-old and another 30-year-old man were also treated for injuries.

On Friday, a Royal Darwin Hospital spokesman said the 30-year-old remained in a critical condition.

He said the two other men were released from hospital after two days of treatment, on Wednesday.

It comes only two weeks after an Alice Springs woman and her son were struck by lightning at their home.

Ms Erlich and her son, Bradley, were taken to hospital after the concrete at the front of their house was struck and they were both shocked leaving them with minor injuries.

EARLIER: A WORKER is in a critical condition after being struck by lightning, south of Darwin.

A St John Ambulance NT spokeswoman said the 30-year-old man was working at Berry Springs on Monday when a bolt hit the ground near him.

She said people nearby conducted CPR at the scene, before he was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital by paramedics.

A Hospital spokesman said the man remained in a critical condition.

It comes only two weeks after an Alice Springs woman and her son were struck by lightning at their home.

Ms Erlich and her son, Bradley, were taken to hospital after the concrete at the front of their house was struck and they were both shocked.

The pair were left with only minor injuries, with Ms Elrich calling herself ‘Glowing Chloe.’

This is not the first time this year someone has been struck by lightning at Berry Springs.

In April a woman was hospitalised she was also hit with lightning.

The woman sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.
